Dental implants are designed to provide a foundation for replacement teeth that look, feel and function like natural teeth. The person who has lost teeth regains the ability to eat virtually anything and can smile with confidence, knowing that teeth appear natural and that facial contours will be preserved.

If implant dentistry is the choice for you, then you will undergo a dental/radiographic and health history examination. During these consultation visits, your specific needs and considerations will be addressed by either Dr. Lopez-Belio, an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, or a Periodontist.
Dental implants are metal anchors, which act as tooth root substitutes. They are surgically placed into the jawbone.

With implant crown!

There are times when a tooth needs to be pulled due to trauma. Implants as seen in the above picture provide an excellent solution.
After the implant has bonded to the jawbone (integrated into the bone), Dr. Lopez-Belio will remove the screw at the surface of the gum so that impressions can be taken for a crown, a bridge or dentures.
Typically, patients that have lost one or two teeth, have porcelain crowns placed over a custom abutment which is then all placed over the implant. Patients love their new look...
