Dental Fillings & Bonding

We are a mercury-free practice and utilize advanced, tooth-colored composite resin for our fillings. Resin fillings offer several key benefits, including:

  1. They are tooth-colored! No more visible dark spots in your teeth.
  2. They are minimally invasive and don’t require reducing as much of your tooth’s natural structure as needed with a silver filling.
  3. They are chemically bonded to your tooth structure. This means that there is no/minimal micro-leakage, which decreases any possibility of further decay.

Removal or replacement of resin fillings is done with a laser at our practice – 90% of the time, there is no numbing required!

Disadvantages of Silver fillings:

  • Silver fillings will corrode over time and break down. This increases micro-leakage, which causes further decay under the filling.
  • Silver expands and contracts when exposed to heat and cold, which can sometimes cause teeth to fracture.
  • Silver fillings cannot be removed with a laser and therefore require numbing.
