Advanced Dental Technology
Laser Dentistry
Not a fan of needles, drilling, or feeling numb? Laser dentistry could be just what you’re looking for!
Laser dentistry is one of the most advanced technologies in minimally invasive modern dental care. Using concentrated light energy, dental lasers can target specific areas in the mouth for a wide range of treatments.
Laser dentistry is used for both hard tissue (like enamel) and soft tissue (like gums) procedures. In many cases, it eliminates the need for local anesthesia. Unlike traditional dental drills, lasers produce no heat, pressure, or vibration, making treatments much more comfortable for most patients. For soft tissue procedures, laser technology often removes the need for stitches and significantly shortens healing time.
Some types of dental care that benefit from laser technology:
- Cavity removal
- Laser whitening
- Periodontal, or gum-related, care
- Apthous Ulcer treatment (canker sore)
- Fibroma removal without anesthesia or sutures
- Root canals
- Crown lengthening, gingivectomy, and other gum corrections
Dental lasers have been shown to be safe and effective for treating both children and adults.
CEREC Restorations
Our CEREC® machine allows us to perform a variety of dental restoration procedures in one visit to our office, including:
- Crowns
- Veneers
- Onlays
- Inlays
Instead of traditional impression material, we use a Primescan digital scanner to make an optical impression, which we then use to design a crown on the CEREC. A small block of porcelain is then milled to create a beautiful porcelain restoration, which is placed the very same day!
- No Sensitivity Problems
- No Retraction Cords
- No need for messy impression materials and bulky trays in your mouth
- No need for temporaries
- THE BEST PART: Complete in one office visit! You have better things to do with your time than keep coming back, though we love to see you!
Digital Imaging
Intra-Oral X-Rays
Now with 90% less radiation!
Dr. Lopez-Belio carefully chooses which and when x-rays are taken. There are many guidelines that we follow. X-rays allow us to see everything we cannot see with our own eyes, enabling us to detect cavities between your teeth, determine the bone level, and analyze the health of your bone. We can also examine the roots and nerves of teeth, diagnose lesions such as cysts or tumors, as well as assess damage when trauma occurs.
Dental x-rays are invaluable aids in diagnosing, treating, and maintaining dental health. Exposure time for dental X-rays is extremely minimal. Dr. Lopez-Belio utilizes Digital Imaging Technologies within the office. With digital imaging, radiation is about 90 percent less when compared to traditional X-rays. Digital imaging can also help us retrieve valuable diagnostic information, offering more precision since it can be viewed on a computer monitor.
Digital imaging also allows us to better store patient images and enables us to quickly and easily transfer them to specialists or insurance companies.
3-D IMAGING: CBCT
Velscope VX For Oral Cancer Screening
The Velscope uses a special wavelength of light, which is able to penetrate into the tissue to identify any abnormality, allowing us to detect oral cancer sooner than with just the naked eye.
Watch-PAT
Obstructive Sleep Apnea Diagnostic Device
For accurate detection of sleep-related breathing disorders. This Home Sleep Study is a great alternative to traditional PSG studies that take place in hospitals or sleep centers. Uses a device very much like a watch and a small finger sensor.
We work closely with patients’ physicians to treat this serious disease.
